Nigeria Customs Clearance Requirements

All imported Nigerian packages must be accompanied by a detailed commercial invoice. The content of the invoice must include the HS code, quantity, unit price, and total price of each commodity. Exports to Nigeria must be certified by SONCAP (the qualification certificate for similar products, the main content is that the data of the tested products are only applicable to the Nigerian market). FORM M and PAAR.
2) All goods that are required to be returned to the origin are no longer automatically arranged, especially the shipments that have completed the tariff assessment. Before the shipment is scheduled to be returned, the recipient or the shipper must pay the tariff before it can be arranged. That is to say, if the shipment has completed the tariff assessment, even if the shipment is eventually returned, the tariff must be paid;
3) The local customs duties are levied on the CIF value (shipment value, freight/insurance);
4) For all repaired and returned local products, the repair or return certificate must be prepared before the shipment is exported to Lagos (LOS), and the declared value on the commercial invoice must be the cost value of the repair.
5) To avoid delays in customs clearance, all goods under the control of the State Food and Drug Administration must apply for relevant import licenses or exemption certificates in advance before being imported into Nigeria.
6) Time limit for customs clearance: Any goods that do not go through customs clearance within 28 days after arriving at the port will be confiscated by the government.
